Hardfix — Support
Hardfix shows the location data other apps hide: the raw fix, how sure it is, your speed, and how those signals relate.
Common questions
- Speed, course or altitude show “—”.
- iOS withholds those values when Precise Location is off. Open Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → Hardfix and turn Precise Location on. The Live screen says so explicitly when this is the cause.
- A recording stopped when the screen locked.
- Recording with the screen off needs Always location access, which Hardfix asks for the first time you start a recording. If it was declined, grant it in iOS Settings, and leave Background tracking on under Settings → Recording.
- Stopping a recording saved nothing.
- Fixes less accurate than 50 m are rejected and counted under DROPPED. Under heavy tree cover or indoors every fix can be rejected, leaving no track to save. Hardfix tells you when this happens and shows the dropped count.
- An imported GPX shows no speed.
- Most GPX files carry no per-point speed. Hardfix derives it from the distance and time between points so the statistics and the speed chart still work.
- Altitude is labelled “baro”.
- Barometer fusion is on and the value is GPS altitude corrected by measured barometric change since the last anchor. Turn it off under Settings → Sensor.
- Where are my tracks stored?
- On your iPhone only. Export a session as GPX, CSV or GeoJSON to move it anywhere else. See the privacy policy.
